PACKAGE TWO REQUIREMENTS

Becoming an instructor starts with registering your interest. We will then help you through the steps of each phase.

You will require an enhanced DBS certificate

A trainee application, which is a form to be filled in electronically or hard copy

You must be over 21 years of age

You must have held a full category B licence for three out of the previous six years

Have not been banned from driving

Have no more than three points on your licence

The test can be taken in either a manual or automatic car if you hold a full category B licence. If your licence only allows you to drive automatic, then you can only train and teach in an automatic vehicle.

These prices are subject to change and are paid direct to the DVSA. This package does include use of a car for test day.

We cover a 50 mile radius for training, outside of that training will be plus a travel fee

STAGE 1 OF 3

This is a theory and hazard perception test

The theory test has 4 categories with 25 questions in each band. This equals a total of 100 questions across the test. The pass mark is 85/100, with a minimum of 21 in each band.

The hazard perception test is the same as the learner test. There is a total achievable score of 75. The pass mark is 57.

As part of this package we offer loan study materials to help with this, plus mock tests on a Saturday morning to help you reach the required standard. We are also available by email and phone during office hours for your questions.

The more study, the higher your skill level, the easier the other tests will be.

STAGE 2 OF 3

This is a driving test. The standard required is greater than that of an ordinary driving test. It draws on your strengths as a full licence holder.

You will drive on various road types, including a motorway.

Follow sat nav directions for 20 minutes

Demonstrate the ability to operate car controls while driving

Perform an emergency stop up to 60mph

Manoeuvre the car in a variety of different scenarios

As part of this package we will give you a written report with key points for you to practice between training sessions. We will provide a minimum of ten hours of on road training. and help with route familiarisation. We are available to answer questions during office hours. We will also provide a car for use on test day if required.

STAGE 3 OF 3

This is your ability to instruct.

For the test you will take a real driving lesson with a pupil, the examiner will be in the back of the car.

Your training will take you through how to teach a pupil from a complete beginner to someone with lots of experience. Covering a syllabus of subjects.

There will be some role play from your trainer.

There will be some teaching real pupils.

To be sponsored to teach on a trainee licence (pink badge) you must complete forty hours of training, this is a legal requirement, prior to application. Your trainer will explain the final exam to you.

This package includes a minimum 40 hours of training with a highly qualified trainer, and additional training as required. Sponsorship for a trainee licence on completion of training. Provide supervision for 20% of your teaching on a trainee licence. Be available during office hours for any concerns or questions. This is our most comprehensive package allowing extra training for any of the three parts as needed.
