The driving test changes in December 2017
The rush to book a test before the changes meant that test booking times are in excess of eight weeks in most areas.
The new test is nothing to worry about, driving is about car control, understanding your environment and interacting safely with other road users. The changes to the test are the use of sat nav in 4 out 5 tests for the independent driving section only.
The manoeuvres are park on the right hand side of the road, reverse two car lengths and drive on. Reversing into a parking bay. Driving forward into a parking bay and reversing out again.
Emergency stop will still be one in three tests
General driving and road procedure will be tested as before.
All tests should include a minimum of one of the following; a set of traffic lights, a pedestrian crossing, a roundabout, a faster road (above 30mph limit), a junction to turn out to the right, a junction to turn out to the left, a junction to turn in from the right, a junction to turn in from the left, crossroads, a potential meeting situation.
Some show and tell questions will be on the move, please see our downloads section for the latest updates of the questions. You will be asked for two. If you do not carry out an on the move question correctly you could fail your test.
